This is the Omega “Speedy Tuesday 2” Ultraman Speedmaster. Likely the model that’s most associated with the Omega brand, this iconic chronograph was introduced in 1957 as a sports and racing chronograph. Originally powered by the famous Calibre 321, the Omega Speedmaster was worn by astronauts on space missions as they needed a watch that could withstand the conditions of outer space and in 1964, only Omega’s Speedmaster passed the rigorous selection criteria.

A tribute to the original 1967 Ultraman by Omega, the Speedy Tuesday 2 (ST2) was a follow up to the wildly popular Speedy Tuesday 1 that was launched just a year prior. Dressed in the colourway of the titular “Ultraman” character and featuring details such as orange accents on the dial and an applied Omega logo, the new Ultraman remained largely faithful to the original, with a secret Ultraman signature revealed on the seconds subdial under UV light. Detailed and mischievous, the ST2 Ultraman is one of the most recognizable among modern Omegas due to the distinctive colours.

Given that the original Ultraman was also produced in very few examples within a very specific serial range dating back to 1968, it’s no wonder that the vintage, all-original Ultramans demand very high prices on the vintage market. An ode to the original, the Speedy Tuesday 2 is as good of a modern tribute as one can expect.
