Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711G
A reference that needs no introduction, the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711G pairs the porthole design of Genta with an integrated leather strap.
This is the Patek Philippe Nautilus reference 5711G. Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is a name synonymous with high horology. A company that has always been privately owned, Patek has been manufacturing watches for almost two centuries without interruption. The company is currently owned by the Stern family, whose heritage dates to when they were supplying dials to Patek in the 1920s.
Introduced in 1976 as the brand's flagship sports watch, the Nautilus has become synonymous with the brand and remains its most recognizable timepiece. Designed by the one and only Gerald Genta, the Nautilus was introduced as a bold departure from traditional precious metal watchmaking, taking inspiration from the portholes of maritime vessels and featuring an integrated case structure that remains one of the most important and distinctive designs in horological history. Alongside the Rolex Daytona and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Nautilus became the epitome of sports watches.
Executed in 18k white gold, the 5711G stands apart from its stainless steel counterparts and predecessors with its configuration of a leather strap and 19k white gold integrated end-links. With a slate-coloured dial perfectly complimenting the white gold case, the dial features applied white gold hour makers and a date window at the 3. Well-sized at 40mm, the 5711G remains remarkably slim at a mere 8.3mm thick with the Cal. 324SC automatic movement visible through the sapphire caseback.
While the 5711G may not be everyone's favourite Nautilus, it remains an intriguing proposition as a seamless combination of Genta's industrialist design with the elegance of white gold, adding a touch of refinement to one of the most iconic designs in horology.
This Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711G is in very good condition. There are some hairlines visible on the white gold case from prior wear without any major dings or dents. The case remains well-defined. The dial shows no sign of age and the caseback remains in excellent condition with no signs of wear. The watch comes accompanied by its original boxes, manuals and certificate dated 2009 and is in full working order.
