Breguet Classique 3910BB

Description

This is the Breguet Classique reference 3910. While Breguet may not be the first brand mentioned by collectors today, the brand has one of the strongest legacies when it comes to watchmaking. Originally established in the late 18th century, Louis Breguet was an early adopter of the steel hands with circle motifs, the curved numerals and the guilloche pattern on the dial. The design language is distinctive even up till today. The “Souscription”, a single-hand pocket watch, is one of the most important and famous pocket watches in history. In the early 19th century, Louis Breguet invented the Tourbillion, which is one of the most sought after complications in horology.

The 3910 retains many distinctive features from the brand such as an engine-turned guilloche dial, blue steeled hands and a coin-edged white gold case. As with most modern Breguets, the watch is individually serialized with the serial number displayed on an oval cartouche and the small seconds indicator at the six. Powered by the manual winding Breguet Cal. 818/5, the 3910 was later replaced by the reference 5920 with an automatic Cal. 516/1 movement.

With a traditional case size of 34mm and a thickness of only 7mm, the 3910 is a subtle yet detailed dress piece that perfectly encapsulates Breguets from that period. While the brand may have once been undervalued, collectors have started to consider the historical significance and fine watchmaking associated with the brand that offers a lot of value for its secondary market prices.

Condition

This Breguet 3910BB is in good overall condition. There are some hairline scratches on the bezel with no dings or dents. The crystal has no signs of wear and the hallmarks and caseback engravings are still crisp on the caseback. It comes accompanied with its original papers dated 2005 and is in full working order.
