Cartier Tank Jumbo 17002

US$0.00
SOLD

Description

This is the Cartier Tank Louis Jumbo 17002. Among the many Cartier timepieces, the Tank is arguably their most recognizable model. Created in 1917, the Tank have been sold in many different variations through the years. It’s likely the model that Cartier likes to experiment with in case, material and dial variants. In the 1970s, this particular Jumbo model was introduced. Measuring in at 28 x 35, it appeared to be yet another experiment by Cartier to vary their most popular model. The differences between the Jumbo and the other Tanks are stark. On the inside, it’s the only Tank to have an automatic movement which is the ETA Caliber 170. Cartier also created a bubble back to accommodate the slightly larger movement. While the exact quantity of the Tank Jumbo is unknown, the run was limited to the 1970s which provides this reference with some exclusivity in ownership.

Condition

This Cartier Tank Jumbo 17002 is in good vintage condition. There are some hairlines on the case as expected from prior wear. The case appears unpolished. The two hallmarks are still clearly present on the caseback and the caseback engravings are still clear. There is a small hairline on the crystal near the 3.
