Cartier Tank Solo Piano 3169

US$0.00
SOLD

Description

This is the Cartier Tank Solo Piano 3169. The history of the Cartier Tank is one that barely needs any introduction, given that it has been covered excessively. The origins of the Tank began in 1917, inspired by war machines of the same name. Given the success of the original Tank, Cartier began to vary the types of Tank to leverage on the success of the model. Among the many Cartier timepieces, the Tank is arguably their most recognizable model alongside the Santos.

The Tank Solo, a derivative of the original Cartier Tank, was introduced in 2004 as an affordable alternative to the Tank Louis Cartier. Generally powered by quartz and encased in stainless steel, the Tank Solo line was the brand’s contemporary take on the classic at the turn of the century. Often regarded as the entry-level Cartier Tank, it has since been a mainstay in Cartier’s lineup.

Given the popularity of the Tank, it’s of little wonder that the line is the one that is most varied. With the introduction of the Tank Solo came several variations, such as animal skin prints on the dial with matching straps and among these, was the fairly obscure Piano dial in two sizes. The Piano dial is especially unique given the layout of the numerals in a monotonous colour scheme that resembles keys on a piano, hence the namesake.

While the inspiration of the Cartier Tank Piano remains largely unknown, the end result is unsurprising with the brand’s emphasis on design. Cartier’s recent rise to prominence shows that the aesthetics of a timepiece is no less important than what powers it. It’s good to see that Cartier has not compromised with the timelessness of their designs with the Tank Piano being a wonderful showcase of the brand’s imagination.

Condition

This Cartier Tank 3169 is in very good pre-owned condition. There are some hairline scratches on the steel bezel and evidence of strap changes on the lugs. The crystal and dial remain in good condition with no wear and the engravings are still clear on the caseback. The watch comes with its original box, strap and buckle and is in full working order.
