Chopard L.U.C 16/1862 Cal 4.96

US$0.00
SOLD

Description

This is the Chopard L.U.C 1862. The Chopard L.U.C, which are the initials of founder Louis-Ulysse-Chopard, is a movement that is among the most underrated in modern horology. The revered 1.96 was introduced in 1996 after Chopard moved their movements in-house to gain respectability as a watch powerhouse. Orignally, Chopard came up with three versions of the in-house Calibre, 1.96, 3.96 and 4.96. These were differentiated by the different materials that Chopard used for the rotor. There has been a recent resurgence for Chopards with the early in-house movements, although the ones housing the 1.96 movement is rarely available in the secondary market. The 4.96 differs from the 1.96 by having a central seconds function. This 1862 is admittedly less desirable than the counterparts housing the 1.96 or the ones with the guilloche finish on the dial but still represents excellent value for money with a comfortable case size of 36.5mm housed in a yellow gold case. With supply finite, it’s likely that the demand will only continue to rise for timepieces that contain early Chopard in-house movements.

Condition

This Chopard LUC 1862 is in good pre-owned condition. There are hairline scratches on the yellow gold bezel from prior wear. The caseback remains in excellent condition and the dial is clean. It comes in a full set of original box and papers dated 1998.
