Hermes Arceau Le Temps Voyageur

US$0.00
SOLD

Description

This is the Hermes Arceau Le Temps Voyageur. A brand name associated with haute couture, Hermes has one of the strongest brand equities within the luxury segment. While more known for its leather goods, Hermes has actually been producing timepieces since the early 1900s when the first timepiece bearing the brand’s name was unveiled in 1928. Not unlike its counterparts Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Bulgari, Hermes has largely been known as a maker of fashion watches such as the Cape Cod series that were generally overlooked by serious collectors.

Introduced in 2022 and crowned GPGH winner later that year, the Arceau Le Temps Voyageur was another addition to the long-running Arceau line of complicated watchmaking. Translated as the “time traveler”, the Le Temps Voyageur sets itself apart with its novel time display and it is no mean feat to stand out among the crowded space of world time watches from its more established peers.

With the home time displayed in an aperture at the 12, the local time can be read through a moving subdial that cycles through each timezone via a pusher at the nine. The hour hand on the floating subdial adjusts accordingly while the home time hour indicator can be adjusted via the crown. Truly a visual feast, the map on the dial is based on the design created for the famous “Planisphère d'un monde équestre” scarf by Jerome Colliard with alternating engraved and sandblasted finished while the Arceau case is horizontally asymmetric with a combination of platinum and black DLC-treated titanium.

As Hermes makes strides towards serious watchmaking, it has displayed patience and understanding of the time and investment required to truly establish itself in horology. Winning the GPHG in 2022 has at least provided some form of validation that its work is appreciated. Given its sizeable resources and the fact that history has proven that its eye for design is second-to-none, it is highly possible that Hermes will be a prominent watchmaker in time to come if the brand devotes enough attention to the task.

Condition

This Hermes Arceau Le Temps Voyager is in excellent pre-owned condition with only minimal signs on wear on the lugs. The case remains in excellent condition with the DLC coating fully intact and it retains the original caseback sticker. The watch retains its original boxes, manuals and guarantee dated 2023 and is in full working order.
