Hermes Sesame SM1.710

US$0.00
SOLD

Description

This is the Hermes Sesame SM1.710. Hermes has always been a name closely associated with haute couture. While more known for their bags, Hermes has been associated with timepieces since the early 1900s where the first timepieces that bore the brand’s name was introduced in 1928. Hermes, not unlike Cartier, Bulgari and other fashion brands, has always been known as a maker of fashion watches that up till a couple of years ago, were largely overlooked by the community.

The first real introduction of a Hermes watch bearing an automatic movement was in the early 2000s with the “Dressage” line and subsequently, the Slim d’Hermes line in 2015. In order to be taken seriously, Hermes also acquired a 25% stake in Vaucher, which is 75% owned by the Sandoz family of Parmigiani fame.

This particular reference, the SM1.710, was launched during the transitional period as they moved toward the “Dressage” line. Hermes was still using external movements and this particular reference is powered by the reliable ETA 2892 movement. It consists of a unique skeletonized dial and blue steel hands as a skeletonized signed rotor. For a skeleton, the Hermes Sesame presents a lot of value for the price point and while purists may scoff at the brand, it’ll just be a matter of time before the timepieces bearing the Hermes signature will be taken seriously.

Condition

This Hermes Sesame SM1.710 is in excellent pre-owned condition. There are some light hairlines on the steel case from prior wear but no dings or dents. Both front and back crystals are clean with no hairlines. The watch retains a full set of original box, warranty papers, stainless steel buckle and Hermes leather strap. The watch is in full working order.
