Kudoke 2

US$0.00
SOLD

Description

This is the Kudoke 2. Founded by German watchmaker Stefan Kudoke, the once unknown independent brand is now one of the more renowned independents after winning the Petite Aiguille at the GPHG in 2019 with the aforementioned Kudoke 2. Stefan Kudoke is well-versed with watchmaking having worked at Glashutte Original, Breguet, Blancpain and Omega before working on hand-engraved movements later in his career.

The introduction of the Kudoke 1 and 2 formed the foundation of the brand and came after the introduction of the brand’s Kaliber 1 in 2018. Based on the Valjoux 7750 movement and sharing several components with the Habring² A11, the Kaliber 1 is Stefan Kudoke’s first in-house calibre that truly reflects his abilities with the frosted bridges and decorated, hand-engraved balance cock.

On the dial, the Kudoke 2 is distinct with the 24-hour hand-engraved disc with a day and night motif that revolves once a day. The frosted finish adds a layer of dimension that of a uniformly white dial save for the tri-coloured disc representing the day and night indicators, which is the main attraction of the model. The rotating day-night indicator is hand-engraved with yellow gold representing the day and rhodium representing the night with a golden arrow indicating the time of the day.

With independents exploding in popularity, Kudoke is one of the few that remain fairly affordable and well-credentialed. The brand is constrained by the number of watches that can be made each year as they do not yet have the economies of scale to produce at a faster rate, hence a long waitlist for popular models such as the Kudoke 2. It is no exaggeration to say that at this price point, the worksmanship, finishing and creativity is unrivalled.

Condition

This Kudoke 2 is in excellent pre-owned condition with some signs hairlines on the case from prior wear but no dings or dents. There is a light mark near the day-night indicator which is only visible under strong light. The caseback remains in excellent condition and the watch comes with the original Kudoke strap and signed buckle. It retains its original box and certificate dated 2020 and the watch is in full working order.
