This is the Rolex Datejust 1601. A classic, the Datejust is a staple in the Rolex family, an everlasting dress watch for the ages. Originally released in 1945, it was Rolex’s first automatic watch with a date function.
Throughout the years, the Datejust has varied in size, movements and materials. This reference 1601 runs on the Calibre 1570, which was used through the 60s up till the late 70s. As with the period, it still has the pie-pan dial and acrylic crystal. The dial that accompanies this 1601 is a glossy black with yellow gold indices and hands.
Condition
This Rolex Datejust 1601 is in very good vintage condition. The serial dates it to 1976 and is still clear between the lugs. There are some hairlines on the acrylic crystal from prior wear. The case remains in excellent condition with no major dings and thick, even lugs. The caseback has three visible hallmarks. The dial is in excellent condition with full original lume plots and an open 6-9 datewheel.
