Rolex Daytona 116520 "APH"

US$0.00
SOLD

Description

This is the Rolex Daytona 116520. There’s nothing more to be said that hasn’t been said about the Rolex Daytona. While the word “iconic” gets thrown around pretty loosely these days, it’s definitely a befitting description of one of the most recognizable watches of all times. Likely the most famous model from Rolex, the Rolex Daytona was actually named after a Florida city that became the world capital of speed.

The 116520 came between the 5-digit 16520 “Zenith” Daytona and the 116500, the currently produced ceramic Daytona. This variant was introduced in 2000 and came equipped with Rolex’s first in-house chronograph movement, the Rolex Calibre 4130. This calibre is also used in the 116500 reference.

Undeniably a statement piece, the Daytona is often considered as a holy grail to most watch collectors. Aesthetically, it is symmetrically perfect with three sub-registers and is extremely sought after. Furthermore, this dial variant is known as the “APH” dial due to the inconsistent spacing in the word “Cosmograph”, which adds to the collectibility.

Condition

This Rolex Daytona 116520 is in very good pre-owned condition. The case shows light hairlines consistent with its age but has no dings. The crystal remains nick-free and the bracelet remains in excellent condition with 11 links. The polish history is unknown but lugs are still thick and even. The lume is Chromalight. It also retains its original box and certificate.
