Daniel Roth Chronograph BB 2147

US$0.00
SOLD

Description

This is the Daniel Roth Chronograph reference 2147. Daniel Roth is a legend in the watchmaking industry that gets little attention in the today’s horological climate. A fourth generation watchmaker, Daniel Roth was selected by Audemars Piguet early in his career due to his technical watchmaking ability. Following his AP stint, Roth moved to Breguet where even until today, his design and legacy still has its influences.

The legacy of the Daniel Roth brand during the late 90s to early 2000s period can be largely divided into three periods. The first period, where he established his own brand post Breguet in 1989, to when Hour Glass bought a stake in 1995 and finally, to when his brand was bought by Bulgari in 2001. Most seasoned collectors long for the pre-Hour Glass era Roths that have become increasingly hard to find and when they come to market, tend to rightfully be snapped up immediately.

This reference BB 2147 is from the first period of Daniel Roth and is one of the earliest timepieces that was produced by the brand. While a lot of his later work does carry similar design traits, the BB 2147 was an early showcase of his aesthetic ability with a pinstripe guilloche dial, double-ellipse case and symmetrical chronograph counters.

The technical prowess of Daniel Roth is also clear with the use of the Lemania 2320 movement that is exquisitely finished by hand which is on full display with an open caseback. Given Daniel Roth’s historical importance as a pioneer of independent watchmaking, it is of little wonder that his early pieces have now become the most sought after and he will always remain one of the most respected and avant-garde watchmakers of his generation.

Condition

This Daniel Roth 2147 Chronograph is in good pre-owned condition with hairline scratches on the case from prior wear. The front crystal has some scuffs while the back crystal remains in excellent condition. The watch is in full working order.
