Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques "Poincon de Geneve" 43039

US$0.00
SOLD

Description

This is the Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques “Poincon de Geneve” reference 43039. Founded in 1755, Vacheron Constantin is the world’s oldest continually operating watch manufacturer. A rich history of producing quality of the highest standards, they are undoubtedly one of the most resilient as well, surviving both world wars and many other historical events along the way. They’re also the purveyor of the world’s most complicated wristwatch.

Introduced as part of the brand’s formative “Les Historiques” collection during the 90s, the 43039 was named the “Poincon de Geneve” after the exquisitely finished Cal. 1120/2 with a Geneva seal. Featuring Vacheron’s signature Maltese cross on its hand-engraved rotor, the Cal. 1120/2 is derived from the Cal. 920 first introduced by Jaeger-LeCoultre that also powered other more famous references such as early Royal Oaks as well as Nautiluses as well as Vacheron’s own Mercator and Heure Sautante.

Produced in two variations with alternating and full Roman numerals in both yellow and white gold, the 43039 harks back to a time of finely-finished and minimalist dress watches. Featuring a cream-coloured dial with applied gold Roman numerals on a polished two-part case, the 43039 is moderately proportioned at 35mm with elongated lugs that make the watch wear larger than its case size.

Understated and classic, the reference 43039 may not be the most well-known reference yet remains a true representation of the brand’s offering of dress watches from the neo-vintage era. While the watch is seemingly a simple two-hander, Vacheron’s attention to detail elevates the aesthetics of a minimalist piece into something novel and distinct altogether.

Condition

This Vacheron Constantin 43039 is in excellent overall condition with only very minor signs of prior wear. The hallmarks and caseback engravings are still deep and legible and the movement is clean. The dial has no signs of wear or age. The watch retains its original Vacheron strap and 18k buckle and is in full working order.
