This is the Vacheron Constantin Overseas 42040. Founded in 1755, Vacheron Constantin is the world’s oldest continually operating watch manufacturer. A rich history of producing quality of the highest standards, they are undoubtedly one of the most resilient as well, surviving both world wars and many other historical events along the way. They’re also the purveyor of the world’s most complicated wristwatch. The first generation Overseas was produced in 1996 as a successor to the 222. Shaped after their signature Maltese cross, the 42040 was industrial, rugged and versatile and was powered by the VC1310 in a comfortable case size of 37mm. The Overseas has since gone on to become Vacheron’s most popular model and their flagship sports model.
Condition
This Vacheron Constantin 42040 is in excellent pre-owned condition. The Sigma black dial is unblemished with no visible flaws. The case has been lightly polished in the past but remains thick and angular. The bracelet has minimal stretch consistent with its age and will fit a wrist of up to 7”. The butterfly clasp remains in excellent working condition. It also comes with its original papers dating the watch to 2001.
