This is the Cartier Tank Cintree reference 2718 from the revered Cartier Collection Privee (CPCP). Originally introduced in the early 1920s spawning from the shape of the legendary Cartier Tank, the Cintree brought about a new dimension to the line. Aggressively curved with an art deco aesthetic, the Cintree was unlike anything that preceded it. A shape that has lasted the test of time, the Cintree remains among the most beloved Cartiers even up till today.

Originating as many other famous Cartiers from the Paris boutique, the Cintree was aptly named after the French word for “curved” and the model has since seen several variations since its introduction. The model was truly ushered into the modern era during the introduction of the 50-piece platinum and 150-piece yellow gold limited editions in 2004. Powered by the JLC Cal. 849 as somewhat of an homage to the original Cintrees, they were offered with the 9 ligne proportions given the penchant towards larger case sizes during the period.

As the cherry on the top, this particular Tank Cintree was borne from the Collection Privee Cartier Paris, or CPCP, collection. The collection ran for a decade from 1998 to 2008 as a celebration of the brand’s historically important and timeless models. All the watches were manufactured exclusively in precious metal with most highlighted by PARIS stamped directly under Cartier. Loosely inspired by one of the most famous Cintrees that belonged to Fred Astaire, the Collection Privee Tank Cintree sets itself apart from the vintage ones in particular with exploding Arabic Numerals and a minute track. While this particular iteration remains highly elusive, it is also among the most recognizable.

CPCP Cartiers have remained amongst the most collectible within the brand. This Cartier Tank Cintree 2718 is in very good pre-owned condition. The case remains in excellent shape with no signs of prior refinishing. There is some wear on the bezel in the form of noticeable hairlines but no dings or dents. There is an obvious hairline on the caseback above the reference number. The watch retains its original strap, buckle and comes with the original CPCP box as well as the guarantee certificate dated 2005. It is in full working order.
